Conservation Advocacy: Texas Audubon Chapter Bi-Annual Assembly November 3 & 4, Bastrop, Texas

Bexar Audubon members, please consider joining Audubon members from across the state for our bi-annual meet-up of the Audubon Chapters of Texas in early November in the Bastrop area. Sponsored by Audubon Texas, this two-day event will be held in several locations.
On Saturday, November 3, Austin-based Travis Audubon will host a Saturday morning field trip. That afternoon, Bastrop Audubon will host a late-afternoon field trip at Bastrop State Park. Our keynote dinner at the Bastrop Sound Sanctuary will begin at 6:00 p.m.

On Sunday morning, attendees will convene at McKinney Roughs, a Lower Colorado River Authority property with wonderful birding in the pines, near Bastrop in Cedar Creek, Texas. Suzanne Langley, the new executive director of Audubon Texas, will open Sunday with a State-of-Audubon-in-Texas address, followed by a session focused on Advocacy Training. (By the end of the day we hope to be able to “speak for the birds” in a much more meaningful way.)

Suggested hotels are the Hyatt Lost Pine Resort and the Hampton Inn in Bastrop. There are numerous camping facilities in and around McKinney Roughs and it also offers dormitory style housing. Check online and make your reservations accordingly. Don’t forget to register for the assembly @

Hope to see you there!
